Yes, we can handle the statistics for your Chennai PhD thesis in SPSS, R, AMOS or SmartPLS, remotely from Nagercoil. We plan the analysis, run it, or check what you’ve run. Every table comes with its syntax, and we never alter the data you collected. Calls happen on video, and files move by email and WhatsApp.

What will a Chennai committee ask about your analysis? That depends on where you’re registered. The medical university in Guindy, the TN Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, examines biostatistics in a written paper. It also wants the sample size worked out in your proposal before registration. Anna University and IIT Madras need ethics committee approval before research with human participants begins. The University of Madras teaches research methodology as a coursework paper. Its library runs an SPSS centre that its researchers can use free. This page collects those local rules, from the institutions’ own documents. Last reviewed September 2026.

Quick answers

What will I receive?

Your output from SPSS, R, AMOS or SmartPLS together with the syntax, script or model file for each table, so anyone can reproduce it. You also get assumption checks, effect sizes reported beside p-values, a data log recording every recode, and a session in which we take you through it.

How long does analysis take?

Given clean, complete data: 2–4 working days for the analysis plan, then 1–2 weeks for the descriptive and inferential work. A structural equation model needs 1–3 weeks, depending on its size.

Can the results be made significant?

No. Your data stay as collected. Changing values, removing respondents or testing until something works is misconduct, and a non-significant result reported properly is still a finding.

Can you just check analysis I have already run?

Yes. The output review normally takes 3–5 working days and looks at test choice, assumption checks, reporting and interpretation, marking the points an examiner may press you on.

What do you need for a quote?

Send the data file, your questionnaire or codebook and the objectives when we have the free consultation. The quote, in writing, sets a fixed price and revision rounds for each stage. Should the data turn out to need far more cleaning than planned, work pauses until you agree the change.

What statistics do Chennai PhD coursework and methodology exams cover?

Research methodology and statistics in PhD coursework at four Chennai institutions
InstitutionWhere statistics sits in the programmeWhat that means for your analysis chapter
TN Dr. M.G.R. Medical UniversityPart I Paper I, Research Methodology, set by the university about a year after registration, with biostatistics as a full unit; a five-day methodology and biostatistics workshop in the first yearYour committee has examined you on the tests you use, so the chapter must justify each choice in its own terms
University of MadrasCourse II, Research Methodology, 4 credits, common to all disciplines in a school; Course I, Research and Publication Ethics, 2 creditsThe syllabus is set by your school, so methods teaching varies; ask for Course II’s syllabus early
Anna UniversityNo separate methodology paper in R2025; the Doctoral Committee chooses a minimum of four PG courses worth 12 credits, or substitute PG-level online courses from SWAYAM-NPTEL, at most fourA statistics or data-analysis course appears only if your Committee picks one, so ask for it at the first meeting
SRM Institute of Science and TechnologyAt least 12 credits, including Research Methodology for the subject and Research and Publication Ethics, with at least 4 credits between themResearch methodology is compulsory unless the Committee exempts an M.Tech. or M.Phil. holder who has passed it

The Medical University is the most specific. Unit III of its Paper I syllabus reads like a checklist of what examiners expect you to know. It starts with randomisation and sample size, measures of central tendency and standard deviation, and the normal distribution. Then come large-sample tests, Student’s t test, correlation and regression, chi-square and ANOVA. It ends with Kaplan-Meier and life-table analysis, multivariate analysis and meta-analysis. Unit II covers software for documenting, presenting and analysing data. The first-year workshop list adds sample size calculation and “what test to do, when”. It also covers bias in clinical research, questionnaire development, survival analysis and SPSS. Research on human subjects or clinical trials needs Good Clinical Practice training too.

The exam itself is fixed in the calendar. The Controller of Examinations’ notice set Paper I on 30 July 2026, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the university’s Senate Hall. It was for scholars registered in the July 2025 session, with a fee of ₹5,000. Papers II and III were held at the research institutions by 31 July. A pass needs 50% in Paper I and 150 of 300 across the three papers. The exam is yours to sit, and no one else’s help belongs in it. We come in later, when the same tests have to be run and reported on your own data. See our guide to choosing a statistical test for the reasoning behind each choice.

Which ethics committee has to approve a Chennai study before data collection?

  • M.G.R. Medical University. Every institution that hosts its research must have an ethics committee (regulation 12.1). Its members include a legal expert, a social scientist, an ethicist and a lay person from the community. The committee signs a clearance certificate inside the provisional registration form. Regulation 12.4 rejects a form without it. The work plan in Annexure I asks for a properly calculated sample size and inclusion and exclusion criteria. Clinical studies add primary and secondary end points. And there’s a note on how the data will be evaluated statistically. So the analysis plan is settled before you’re even registered.
  • IIT Madras. The Institutional Human Ethics Committee accepts proposals from IIT Madras faculty only. It follows the ICMR national ethical guidelines and is registered with the Department of Health Research. You apply with a signed hard copy to its office in the Department of Biotechnology and one PDF by email. Send an informed consent form and a participant information sheet with it. Where needed, add audio-visual consent and an assent form. The committee works in rounds. The last date for the current round was 24 August 2026, with the meeting in the last week of October 2026. Missing a round can cost you months of fieldwork time.
  • Anna University. The research conduct rules annexed to R2025 need prior approval from the Institutional Ethics Committee. That covers research with human subjects, communities or environmental issues. The rules also expect you to address consent, confidentiality and privacy.
  • University of Madras. Clause 8.3 asks scholars to follow the ethical rules in force for data collection, experiments and publication. The regulations do not name a university-level committee, so ask your department which one reviews survey and interview studies.

Our ethics approval guide explains what these committees usually ask for, and the sample size guide covers the calculation the Medical University’s work plan expects.

What do Chennai regulations say about data manipulation and reproducible results?

More than scholars expect. The research conduct rules in Anna University’s R2025 list falsification, fabrication and dishonesty in creating or reporting results as misconduct. CFR’s circular of 27 January 2025 then puts a penalty on it. A scholar involved in data manipulation or in breaking ethical standards is warned. Continued involvement means debarment for two years. Madras goes as far as the degree itself. If an unethical process in the research is found after the award, clause 14.18 permits its withdrawal.

In practice, your analysis chapter should be something your Doctoral Committee or RAC could rerun. Keep the raw data file untouched. Record every recode, exclusion and imputation in syntax or a script. And report the tests you ran, including the ones that didn’t support your hypothesis. A committee member who asks “why did the sample drop from 412 to 380?” should get an answer from your data log, not your memory. If your study is a survey, the groundwork for this starts with the instrument. Our questionnaire design guide covers it.

What statistics support do Chennai universities give their own scholars?

  • Madras University Library runs an SPSS Data Analysis Centre in the main library. The Vice-Chancellor set it up for the university’s research community. Its page says researchers can use the software free of cost. The library lists the centre’s hours as 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. The page describes access to software, not advice on which test to run.
  • IIT Madras Central Library lists SAGE Research Methods among its research support tools, alongside Scopus and Web of Science. It is a reference collection on methods, not an analysis service.
  • M.G.R. Medical University leaves the five-day methodology and biostatistics workshop to qualified faculty of the affiliated institutions. So its quality depends on your college.
  • Anna University lets Doctoral Committees prescribe PG courses. Since October 2025, scholars may also take PG courses at other government colleges and universities, particularly in Science and Humanities. So a statistics course elsewhere in Chennai can count if your Committee approves it.

Free software solves the licence problem. But it won’t tell you whether a Likert scale should be summed. It won’t say whether your model needs a mediation test, or how to report a non-significant result. That’s where most of our Chennai questions come from. Part-time scholars with little time on campus should also read our part-time PhD guide for Chennai on attendance rules.

Working with us from Chennai

We start with a video call. After it you share the dataset, the instrument or codebook, and your objectives. What we do first depends on how far along your university’s sequence you’ve got.

  • For a scholar not yet registered with the Medical University, the useful stage is the analysis plan. That means the sample size, the end points and the statistical evaluation note. Your ethics committee and Screening Committee will read them in the work plan. Our health-sciences PhD guide for Chennai explains that registration route.
  • At IIT Madras, we fit the plan to the ethics round your guide is applying in, so the consent form and the analysis promise the same things.
  • At Madras, you may already run SPSS at the library centre. Then the output review may be all you need. We check the tests, assumptions and reporting, and you keep the analysis.

Every table comes with its syntax or script. Before your RAC or Doctoral Committee meeting, we go through the results with you on a call. That way you can answer questions on your own analysis without us in the room.

FAQ

Questions scholars in Chennai ask

The Madras library lets me use SPSS for free. Do I still need help?

Maybe not. If you are confident choosing and reporting tests, run the analysis there and use us only for an output review before your RAC meeting. If you are unsure which test fits each objective, the analysis plan is the stage worth paying for.

My Anna University Doctoral Committee did not prescribe a statistics course. Is that a problem?

Not by the regulations, which only ask for four relevant PG courses. It becomes a problem if the analysis is central to your thesis and you cannot explain it. Ask the Committee to add a PG statistics course or an NPTEL one while coursework is still open.

Does any Chennai university insist on SPSS rather than R?

None of the regulations we read names a required package. The M.G.R. Medical University’s workshop list mentions SPSS by name, and many departments are used to SPSS tables. But R output with a script is just as acceptable if you can explain it. Ask your supervisor what the committee is used to reading.

Can you start before my ethics approval comes through?

We can build the analysis plan and dummy tables, which often helps the application. Collecting data from participants waits for the approval letter, and your institution’s committee decides whether secondary or anonymised data need a review.

Will my data be kept confidential?

Yes. Only the people doing your analysis see your files. An NDA is available on request. And if you ask, we delete everything once the work ends.
